Robins Nest- plaited twine sac * Domek z makramy dla rudzików

Photo and art Mariusz Zawadzki

We have a Mrs & Mr Robin with 4 children living in our garden, and Mariusz is hunting them with the camera and I've decided to make them a new cosy home, hope they move in there one day! :)

We can enjoying a great May weather, watching those lively birds going about their business.

Można cieszyć się piękna majowa pogoda i obserwować te żywotne ptaszki, wciąż w ruchu.

The robins were an inspiration for us to get creative. Here it is on the Mariusz's painting; it was a as a part of an exhibition in What if...? Gallery in Dartford.

What if ...? Galeria w Dartford.

The chicks of robins are hidden deep in the bushes, but the nest is quite open as they like to see surroundings from the nest. The birds parents are labour tirelessly to provide for their young.

Rodzice niestrudzenie szukają pożywienia by wykarmić swoje młode.

Robin is a sign of spring, good fortune and beginnings.

Rudzik jest symbolem wiosny,

powodzenia,

i początków.

I decided to make one bedroom flat, so they could move in for the next nesting.

Postanowiłam zrobić in M1 aby mogli się przenieść na następne

gniazdowanie.

1 bed flat ready to move in ;)

Makrama -hand plaiting net sac from natural twine and recycled

pieces of plywood roof done by Mariusz. Macrame is a type of handmade, hand-woven textile from cords and strings.

Makrama plaid + circle from the board and plastic adjustable band

I made a sac form the natural twine and turn it on the other side, leaving loose twine endings as a padding for the nestlings, Mariusz has helped to cut and drill the holes in the board circle for the twine to go through, he has also constructed simple roof from the reclaimed plywood and has helped me put the roof together, I've painted and varnished the circle to be waterproof and durable. Entrance is made from the cable clip forming a entrance hole, I didn't want to use this plastic piece, which isn't biodegrade, but that was the best I could come up so far. Perhaps for the future bird houses I'd to come up with other idea. It's not so aesthetic as I 'd like to, hope Robins will cut me some slack as this is a prototype ;)
